TAL-TEC

About Us

Tal-Tec was founded in 1970 by South African engineer William Talbot and his son Peter Talbot when they purchased a cattle farm near Vaalwater, Limpopo. Faced with the challenge of protecting their cattle from ticks and tick-borne diseases using the costly and wasteful plunge dip method, the Talbots sought a better solution.

Peter Talbot pioneered the development of a Spray Race, a more efficient and cost-effective method allowing cattle to walk through while recycling the dip mixture. This innovation was first showcased at the Pretoria Agricultural Show in 1972, capturing the interest of farmers and marking the beginning of Tal-Tec’s journey.

By the mid-1980s, the growing demand for their equipment led Peter Talbot to establish TAL-TEC (Pty) Ltd., focusing on designing and producing cutting-edge cattle management tools. In the 1990s, Peter’s son Greg Talbot joined the business, bringing a fresh perspective and new skills. Greg, now the Managing Director, combines his acumen in accounting with a natural talent for overseeing engineering, ensuring the company’s steady growth.

Peter Talbot retired in 2006 after dedicating 30 years to the business, leaving behind a legacy of innovation and quality. Greg continues to uphold the family’s commitment to excellence, steering Tal-Tec to new heights each year. Reflecting on their journey, Greg expresses deep gratitude for the rewarding yet challenging path the family has taken. “This business is in my blood,” he says, signifying the enduring passion and dedication that will drive Tal-Tec forward for many more years.
